The 1A Short Fuse is a 1-amp fuse in the short (5x20mm) physical format used on Gecko-built spa motherboards. It protects the transformer that supplies low-voltage power to the topside control panel and most of the spa's signal electronics.
What it means when this fuse blows: The single most common symptom is a topside control panel that's gone completely dark — no display, no buttons responding, no temperature reading. The pumps and heater may continue to run on a stale set point until the next cycle, but you've lost the ability to control or program the spa. The fuse itself blows because of a voltage spike from the incoming line, a failing transformer, or a fault somewhere downstream on the low-voltage circuit.
How to replace it: Always turn off the spa's breaker at the house panel first — never replace a fuse with the spa powered up. Open the equipment access panel, locate the Gecko motherboard, and find the marked transformer fuse holder. Pull the old fuse out (a small flathead screwdriver helps), inspect for the broken filament that confirms it blew, and snap in a fresh 1A short fuse. Restore power at the breaker.
When to call for service: If the new fuse blows again within minutes or hours, stop replacing it — there's an underlying short or transformer failure that will keep eating fuses until the root cause is fixed. Book a service call rather than chasing it yourself. If you're not sure which Gecko-format fuse you need, bring the old one to any of our three Ontario showrooms and we'll match it on the spot.
