Collection: Salt Systems

A salt water hot tub system generates chlorine on demand by passing low-salinity water through an electrolytic cell, so you skip the weekly chlorine dosing and get softer-feeling water that doesn't smell like a pool. This collection covers full systems, replacement salt cells, and the parts — gaskets, unions, control boards. Arctic Spas tubs equipped with SpaBoy and Onzen use this same principle, and replacement cells in this collection are compatible.

If you're running a non-Spa Boy salt system on a different tub, check the cell dimensions and amperage before ordering. Cells typically last 1 to 2 years depending on use and water chemistry. Free Ontario shipping over $169, or pick up at our Kitchener, London, or Windsor showroom — the team can confirm fit from your existing cell or control pack photo.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a hot tub salt cell last?

One to two years for most hot tubs and swim spas. Hard water shortens cell life because minerals can scale the plates; running balanced chemistry and the occasional cell cleaning extends it.

Does salt water hurt the hot tub shell or equipment?

At spa-level salinity (around 2200 ppm — way below ocean water), no. Arctic Spas plumbing, shells, and stainless components are rated for it.

How much salt do I add to a hot tub?

Check your system's manual — most spa salt systems target 2200 ppm. For a 1500 L Arctic Spa, that's roughly 3.3 kg of Onzen Salt Water Blend at startup. Top up every drain-and-refill.

Is Spa Boy the same as a regular salt system?

Spa Boy is Arctic Spas' integrated sanitation and water monitoring system — it does what a salt system does, plus automates pH and sanitizer dosing. Replacement Spa Boy cells live in this collection too.
