Salt Cell Cleaner

Salt Cell Cleaner is a citric-acid-based descaler formulated specifically for cleaning the titanium plates inside Onzen and Spa Boy salt cells. Regular cleaning prevents calcium scale buildup on the cell plates, which is the #1 cause of salt cells losing chlorine-generation capacity and dying years before they should.

Why salt cells need cleaning: Every time the salt cell generates chlorine, calcium ions in the water are drawn toward the titanium plates. Over weeks and months, those calcium ions plate out as a hard white scale that physically insulates the cell from the water — reducing chlorine output, making the cell run hotter, and eventually killing the cell entirely. A cell that's been regularly cleaned can last 2-3x longer than one that's been ignored. The Salt Cell Cleaner dissolves that scale chemically without damaging the underlying titanium.

How to use it: Remove the salt cell from the housing, immerse the cell plates in Salt Cell Cleaner solution per the bottle directions (typically 1 part cleaner to 4 parts water), let it soak for 15-30 minutes, agitate gently to dislodge softened scale, and rinse thoroughly with fresh water before reinstalling. Do this every 3-4 months, or any time you see visible white deposits on the plates.

Quick tips:

• Don't use household descalers (vinegar, CLR, etc.) on the cell — wrong concentration or wrong chemistry can damage the titanium coating
