Cover Saver

The Cover Saver is an under-cover support that keeps your spa cover from sagging in the middle. It sits on top of the spa water (or just above it) and holds the cover up from below, preventing the slow droop that develops over time and accelerates with snow load, rain pooling, or accumulated debris.

Why a sagging cover is the slow death of every spa cover: Once a spa cover starts to sag in the middle, two things happen at once: rain and snow stop running off the surface and instead pool in the depression, and the foam core inside the cover starts absorbing moisture from sustained contact with that puddle. A wet foam core is heavier (which makes the sag worse), insulates worse (so your heating costs go up), and eventually mildews and falls apart. The Cover Saver breaks the cycle by holding the cover up from underneath so water sheds the way the cover was designed to.

When to add one: If you're noticing any depression in the centre of your cover when you look at it from the side — add a Cover Saver. If your cover is brand new, add one anyway as preventative; covers that have a Cover Saver from day one easily outlast covers that don't by 2-3 years. Especially worth it for southwestern Ontario winters where snow load on a flat-sagging cover gets heavy fast.

Quick tips:

• If your cover is already badly sagged, a Cover Saver slows further damage but won't reverse the foam absorption that's already happened — plan for a cover replacement on the next 2-3 year horizon
• Check that the saver sits centred under the cover seam where the two halves meet — that's the lowest point of any folding cover
