The 5A Fuse is a 5-amp fuse for Gecko-built spa motherboards. It protects the shared circuit that runs the ozone generator and the circulation pump — two components that work continuously to keep your spa water sanitized and tempered between heating cycles.
What it means when this fuse blows: Two things go down at once. First, your circulation pump stops, so the spa stops moving water continuously through the heater and filter — you may notice the temperature wandering away from set point, or the water going cloudy faster than usual. Second, the ozone generator stops, removing one of the layers of secondary sanitization. The fuse usually blows because the ozone unit failed (most common, since ozone generators have a finite lifespan of 3-5 years), or the circ pump motor seized or shorted internally.
How to replace it: Turn off the spa's breaker at the house panel first. Open the equipment access panel, locate the Gecko motherboard, and find the marked OZONE/CIRC fuse holder. Pull the old fuse, confirm it blew (broken filament), and snap in a fresh 5A. Restore power and watch for whether either component runs.
When to call for service: If the replacement fuse blows immediately, you have a shorted ozone unit or seized circ pump motor. The diagnostic step is to disconnect the ozone generator first and try the spa with just the circ pump on the circuit — if it runs, the ozone is the problem; if it still blows, the circ pump is. Most spa owners would rather book a service call here than diagnose live electrical themselves. Bring the old fuse to any of our three Ontario showrooms for matching.
