The Older Waterway Diverter Internal is the replacement internal mechanism for older Arctic Spas equipped with Waterway-brand diverter valves. The internal is the rotating shaft assembly that lives inside the diverter housing — it's the part that physically redirects water flow when you turn the cap above it.
When you'll need to replace the internal: The most common symptoms are a diverter that has gone stiff or grindy to turn (worn shaft splines or a swollen rotating seal), a diverter that no longer fully redirects flow (worn flow vanes inside the assembly), or visible water leaking around the internal that an O-ring replacement alone hasn't fixed. If a fresh O-ring and silicone lubrication didn't restore smooth action, the internal itself is the next thing to swap.
Will this fit my spa? Yes, on older Arctic Spas using the Waterway diverter generation. If your spa has the newer Rising Dragon-brand diverters, you need the Internal Newer Rising Dragon instead. The two are not interchangeable. If you're not sure which generation your spa uses, bring the old internal to one of our three Ontario showrooms — we'll match it on the spot.
How to install: No need to drain the spa for an internal replacement. Unscrew the diverter cap, lift the old internal out, install the new one with a fresh Diverter Internal O-ring, lightly lubricate with plumbing-safe silicone, and re-thread the cap finger-tight.
Quick tips:
- Replace any matching diverter O-rings at the same time — they age together and you'd rather not be back here in a few months
- Older Waterway parts can be harder to source as the brand transitioned out — grab a spare if you're rebuilding multiple diverters
