The Spaboy Salt Cell Housing with Niche (Grey) is the replacement housing assembly that holds the Spaboy 5-plate salt cell in place inside the spa plumbing. It includes both the housing body and the niche — the recessed mounting fitting that integrates with the spa shell. Replace it when the housing has cracked, the niche thread has stripped, or the original has gone brittle from years of chlorine and UV exposure.
When you'll need a new housing: Salt cell housings outlast the cells themselves by years, but eventually they fail too — cracks at the threaded connection (often from over-tightening at cell change time), discolouration progressing to brittleness, or the niche seal weeping water back into the cabinet. If you've replaced the cell and a fresh O-ring and the leak persists, the housing itself is the next part to suspect.
Will this fit my spa? Yes, on Arctic Spas with the Spaboy 5-plate salt water system. If your spa has the older Onzen 3-plate system, you need a different housing. Bring your old housing to one of our three Ontario showrooms for matching.
Important: Salt cell housing replacement requires draining the spa below the housing, removing the old housing from the inside of the shell, and re-sealing the new one. Most owners book a service tech because a re-seal that leaks back into the cabinet is expensive to discover six months later.
